The Municipal Museum of the Holocaust is an “experiential” museum that focuses on the exhibition – divided in thematic units – of all kinds of museological material associated with the events of the Holocaust of December 13, 1943 in Kalavrita and all the events before and after the Holocaust in the wider area of the Kalavritan province. The Museum's material is exhibited in five thematic units in five rooms:
1st Room - Prewar Kalavrita
2nd Room - Occupation – “Operation Kalavrita”
3rd Room - Destruction in the wider area
4th Room - The Germans in Kalavrita - Destruction
5th Room - Historical Memory (the pantheon of the Kalavritan heroes - the Nazi atrocities)
In this symbolic building the inhabitants of Kalavrita experienced and suffered the brutality of the Nazi atrocities: after being deceitfully gathered there, the families were inhumanely divided, the men over 14 were taken away from their families and the women and children were mercilessly encaged in the school from which they violently managed to break out later.
